SCULPTORS
:: Philip Eglin
- sculptor and ceramicist who lives in Newcastle-under-Lyme and teaches part-time
in Stoke. He won the prestigious Jerwood Prize for Ceramics as the most promising young
ceramic sculptor in Britain, and recently had a
solo show at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
:: Miho Suganami -
based at Keele & Newcastle-under-Lyme, Miho is a fine artist
whose work invites an audience
to engage with 'art' in a way that's tactile, fun and toy-like.

- a sculptor based in Tunstall, Stoke for half the year; and in Hastings, Northamptonshire for the rest of the year.
:: Angela Munslow - sculptor and painter. She
studied figurative sculpture at the Stoke-based
Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture (which later was reborn as the Frink).
:: Stonefaces - creative stone carving, based
in Leek.

fine hand-carved classic stone fireplaces. Based in Cheadle, near Stoke.

Church Wall Gargoyles
- based in Cheadle. Creator of the statues at the Alton Towers Hotel
and stone carvings in Ugland & Alice in Wonderland at Alton Towers.
Church Wall also run classes at The Potters Barn.
COURSES
:: Frink School of Figurative Sculpture - based in
Leek, near Stoke-on-Trent. An excellent private initiative, with
good traditional teaching methods. Also offers courses on letter-cutting in stone.
Has regular Open Days throughout the year.
Two other Staffordshire colleges offer some courses in Sculpture; the
WEA's Wedgwood Memorial College at Barlaston,
and Stafford College. Staffordshire University offers stone carving options
on some degree courses.
